As Seen in "New England Home"
First the textile. This Suzani is an expertly hand embroidered piece circa 1960-70. It uses fine silk threads on a black cotton foundation. I love the grass green color which works so well with the pink, white, red and yellow threads. Icons include tulips on the seat and pomegranates and almond flowers on the back. The concentric circles represent the sun and the wonderful flowers which run across the bottom of the seat represent the border between fantasy and reality in the imagination of the artist. Note that the rear of the chair is fully embroidered and seams well matched. The frame probably dates from before the 1930s. It is solid hardwood and has the beautiful patina of age, so desirable in a fine chair. It has been upholstered with hand-tied springs and horsehair stuffing and is very comfortable. Measures 25-1/2" w x 35-3/4" h x 23" deep. $1150 NOW! 995 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view itKeep Scrolling for More Designs
