The Very Finest Silk Embroidery
Stuffed with down and feathers, this king-size pillow measures 30" x 20." The vintage Suzani textile features exceptionally good silk hand embroidery, on a black cotton foundation. Embroidery colors include ivory, magenta, and purple, with subtle secondary colors: pale yellow, tan, brown and light blue. The backside of the cushion is finished with black raw silk, with original silk tassles decorating the top and bottom.

First the textile. This Suzani is an expertly hand embroidered piece circa 1960-70. It uses fine silk threads on a black cotton foundation. I love the grass green color which works so well with the pink, white, red and yellow threads. Icons include tulips on the seat and pomegranates and almond flowers on the back. The concentric circles represent the sun and the wonderful flowers which run across the bottom of the seat represent the border between fantasy and reality in the imagination of the artist. Note that the rear of the chair is fully embroidered and seams well matched.
The frame probably dates from before the 1930s. It is solid hardwood and has the beautiful patina of age, so desirable in a fine chair. It has been upholstered with hand-tied springs and horsehair stuffing and is very comfortable. Measures 25-1/2" w x 35-3/4" h x 23" deep.

The Suzani used to cover this chair was hand embroidered using silk threads on a black cotton foundation. Notice the fabulous concentric rings of flowers and pomegranates in colors of yellow, white and red. There is also a green border which runs across the skirt of the chair in the front. Welting runs between the seat and the skirt. The rear of the chair is also fully embroidered with 24 gorgeous flowers and pomegranates in concentric circles.
The frame is circa mid-20th century. It is solid hardwood, showing the patina of age with a graceful curve at the top. It has been re-upholstered using springs and horsehair stuffing and is very comfortable. Matching lumbar pillow available. Ample proportions! Measures 24" w x 38" h x 27" deep.
